A hot new pair: a hybrid device and social media

Recently I bought myself a new camera. And not just any camera, but the first real hybrid camera, which has both a systems camera as well as a Full HD camcorder. And after testing both of these properties, I’m convinced that they indeed work wonderfully and even better than any of my older separate apparatuses ever did.
As I was buying the camera, I started to think what the term ’hybrid’ actually means. It has such a modern vibe to it whenever it is used. And if you enter ’hybrid’ into Wikipedia, you’ll get a variety of results from animal species to motor vehicles. But what is a hybrid? Simply put a hybrid is born whenever the best features of two existing entities are combined to create a new entity.
And wouldn’t this make a kebab pizza an edible hybrid? After all, it does combine the best features of two dishes and turns them into a whole new dish. Modern mobile phones are also hybrids. They are combinations of a phone, a handheld computer and several other devices such as a navigator and a camera. Google Wave is a communication tool hybrid, which combines email and instant messaging with a few other features. The more you think about hybrids, the more you see them all around you.
Evolution of devices and their use
Technical devices are becoming increasingly more multi-purpose. Devices that we used to think are not so technically versatile are now adapting new features and thus are turning into social media tools. For example, you can use YouTube, Flickr, Twitter and soon even Skype on your TV. Game consoles are no longer meant for playing only, but also for using Facebook and Twitter. And if there’s any truth to the rumours I’ve heard, Spotify will be available on Blu-Ray devices soon. Some of these new ideas might even seem a bit funny: soon you can use Facebook via your car!
Social interaction is the key
The key to all development is interesting social media online services. The most popular services are taken into account in current device design, even in the extent that new devices are designed for using the popular social services. And the flow of new social services is continuous. Some of the new services will be successful, and in time become a sort of standard for device development. This is turn promotes the development of devices and their use.
When thinking about your company’s online strategy, look further than just your web pages and search engine visibility. Although these are the corner stones of digital marketing, it is also very beneficial to be heard in places where people gather online. And you don’t have to have big bucks to get heard.
