Case Pölkky Lumi

A distinctive brand for luxury animal bedding on its way to the international market

When Pölkky Oy developed a world-class luxury animal bedding product from the side streams of its production, a worthy brand was needed for the new product. Avalon's creative team, already familiar to the customer, took up the challenge and harnessed AI tools to help with this versatile project.

Our customer Pölkky Oy, a long-standing timber producer, wanted to create a brand that stood out from the market for its new product family. The product in question is significantly different from their established product offering both in terms of the product's intended use and target group, so we were able to create something completely new with the product brand as well.

Artificial intelligence to support creative design

Building the creative concept of the product brand and planning the launch was a three-member creative team from Avalon, which used ChatGPT's AI service as a sparring aid. Artificial intelligence was used e.g. in competitor analysis to identify similarities and differences between different products, to create variations of different brand names, and to produce examples of brand contents with the desired tone of voice and text style. The ability of artificial intelligence to process large masses of data, together with the creativity of people, creates a synergy that results in even higher quality deliverables.

As a result, an attractive, narrative and convincing brand ready for international success

The brand's visual appearance tells the story of pure northern nature that emphasizes Pölkky's competitive advantages. The brand's story takes the customer to the fresh nature of Lapland, where the high-quality and pure raw material comes from.

The efficiently run branding project was also a pleasant experience for our customer. The project included variations of the brand name and product names, the visual appearance of the brand including both product logos and imagery supporting the brand image, product packaging design, the product's own website, brochure materials and advertising materials for different channels. The branding project was carried out at the same time as the investment in the factory manufacturing the product in question was approaching commissioning, so that everything was ready at the time of the launch.

In my experience, creating a new brand or brand elements can sometimes be slow and difficult, but this project started moving in the right direction from the beginning, and we were able to create the brand we wanted quickly, after only a few rounds of iteration. Avalon's team managed to bring into the project, partly with the help of artificial intelligence, interesting ideas and suggestions that I would not have thought of myself. All in all, we are very satisfied with the end result and Avalon's work.”
